Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Denis Naughten

Question:

264 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has a public private partnership section; the number of staff allocated to this section; the specific projects being dealt with by this section; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26900/00]

The question of use of public private partnerships in the health sector is being examined in my Department by the hospital planning office, the section responsible for the capital programme. An assistant principal is working full-time on the subject of public private partnerships and discussions will be held in the near future with the Department of Finance on the applicability of PPPs to the health services. The areas for consideration under PPPs include community nursing units for the elderly and health centres.
