97 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Defence his priorities for capital expenditure in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28855/00]

The provision in the Defence Force Estimates for capital building projects for 2001 is £42.86 million. A continuation of a planned programme of works has been drawn up in order to meet the needs of relocating personnel and facilities, following the closure of a number of barracks recently. This programme is centred on the Curragh Camp and on Collins Barracks, Cork and it is to complement the normal range of building and engineering works for the purpose of providing modern living, operational and training accommodation for the Defence Forces. Some of the major projects which will commence in 2001 are as follows:
