Vol. 527 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cancer Incidence.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

156 Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Health and Children the incidence of leukaemia and childhood cancers by each health board region; and if clusters of such conditions have been identified. [29118/00]

My Department does not routinely collect data on the incidence of cancer. The National Cancer Registry is the statutory body with responsibility for the collection of data on the incidence of and mortality from cancer in Ireland. My Department has asked Dr. Harry Comber, Director of the National Cancer Registry, to respond to the Deputy directly with the data required.
