Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers' Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

184 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if he will extend the disabled drivers scheme to include persons who are already in receipt of carer's allowance from the Department of Social Community and Family Affairs and where, due to the person's disability, the carer is now the main driver. [29617/00]

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, the disabled drivers and disabled passengers scheme is under review by an interdepartmental group which is chaired by an official from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. It would be imprudent of me to consider any amendments to the scheme until such time as the review is completed and its content is given due consideration.
