Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

225 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 355 of 24 October 2000 regarding the delay in arranging a knee operation for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow, he will again contact the South Eastern Health Board as no reply was issued; and the reason for the break down in this procedure. [29408/00]

Parliamentary Question no 355 of 24 October 2000 referred to an appointment this person was awaiting at Cappagh Hospital. The provision of services in this case is therefore the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I understand from the Authority that a reply will issue to the Deputy today.

I also understand from the South Eastern Health Board that the person in question was seen in January of this year at an outpatient orthopaedic clinic at Waterford Regional Hospital where the person was advised to return to the clinic if further problems arose.

Question No. 226 taken with Question No. 189.
