Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Ivan Yates

Question:

248 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education and Science if a primary school (details supplied) in County Wexford will be given approval for the extension they require to meet their current needs; and if senior Department officials will meet with the board of management to advance this and set out a timetable for its development and completion. [30144/00]

My Department has recently completed an assessment of the long-term enrolment projections for the school referred to in the details supplied. A technical inspection of the school building will take place as soon as possible.

The Deputy will appreciate that the application from the school in question for improved accommodation is one of a large number on hand within my Department. Within this constraint, the school's application is being processed as quickly as possible.

It is too early to say at this point if funding will be approved, however, the school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
