Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

88 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will consider payment of livestock grants to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [30232/00]

The herdowner lodged an appeal on 22 November 2000 concerning his 2000 cattle headage application. Appeals require individual examination and are dealt with in the order in which they are received. This appeal will be examined in due course and the herdowner will be notified of the outcome.

Paul Bradford

Question:

89 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has had his payment under the beef cow scheme 2000 reduced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30233/00]

Only eligible animals held on lands located in the disadvantaged areas are entitled to grants under the headage schemes. Furthermore, clause 27 of the terms and conditions governing the 2000 cattle headage scheme sets limits on the amount of grant to be paid per forage hectare.

Of the 20.58 hectares declared by the person named in his 2000 area aid application, 7.81 hectares are in the disadvantaged areas, of which 3.24 hectares are in the more severely handicapped areas and 4.57 hectares are in the less severely handicapped areas. Based on these areas, and calculated in accordance with the terms and conditions governing the 2000 cattle headage scheme, the total grant paid on 28 beef cows and one other animal applied on was £695.39, which represents his full entitlement under the scheme.
