Question:

416 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive cattle and sheep headage for 1998. [1846/01]

The 1998 area aid application for the person named has been cleared on the basis of clarification received from the herdowner and is now fully processed with no outstanding errors. The area for payment purposes has been determined at 40.90 hectares. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

417 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive additional payment in compensation for his reduced REP scheme payment in 2000, due to the euro changeover conversion. [1847/01]

On 12 January 2001 the European Commission approved payment of compensation in respect of reductions in REPS payments during 2000, arising from the introduction of the euro. Participants who commenced in REPS before 1 January 1999 and received a REPS payment in 2000 are eligible for such compensation, which amounts to 75% of the reduction in payments. The person named is eligible for this payment and it will issue during February.

418 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if payments will be made to REP scheme applicants for 2000 to compensate for the shortfall due to the euro conversion rate. [1848/01]
