Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Phil Hogan

Question:

847 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects work to commence on the Kilmacow sewerage scheme in County Kilkenny; if this project will not be required to be completed under the public-private partnership method of financing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2075/01]

The Kilmacow sewerage scheme is included in the Water Services Investment Programme 2000-2002 for construction under the rural towns and villages initiative.

Departmental procurement policy favours provision of water and sewerage treatment works under the design-build-operate model and my Department is in correspondence with Kilkenny County Council in relation to that aspect of this scheme. The scheme will be progressed as quickly as possible towards construction once the appropriate procurement route has been determined.
