Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Phil Hogan

Question:

848 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will sanction the tender for road improvements at Threecastles, County Kilkenny, under the EU financing of the national roads scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2076/01]

Kilkenny County Council has recently submitted an application for road improvements at Threecastles under the 2001 EU co-financed specific improvement scheme of grants.

This application, together with all other applications under the EU co-financed specific improvement scheme, will be considered in my Department, having regard to compliance with the eligibility criteria, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funds available for the scheme in 2001.

I intend to announce non-national roads grant allocations for 2001, including allocations under the EU co-financed specific improvement scheme of grants, very shortly.
