Written Answers. - Museum Projects.

Ivan Yates

Question:

964 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has received a copy of the proposal for the major restoration and redevelopment of the County Wexford museum; if she will meet a deputation from the Enniscorthy Urban District Council and the board of the museum in relation to the request for capital funding; the total capital funds that are available under the operational programme in this regard; if she will favourably consider this application for such funding; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1816/01]

An application has been made for funding for the development of Wexford county museum under the ACCESS (Arts and Culture Capital Enhancement Support Scheme). A total of £36 million of Exchequer funding is available under ACCESS for the period 2001-04. The initial assessment of all applications is currently being undertaken to determine whether each application meets the broad criteria for eligibility. A full appraisal of all eligible applications will then be undertaken.
