Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Reports.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

1028 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the action he will take as a result of the Garda report mentioned in Parliamentary Questions Nos. 124 and 125 of 7 November 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1518/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda file in this matter was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who directed that no prosecution be taken in this case.

As the Deputy will appreciate, the DPP is independent in the discharge of his statutory duties, and it would not be appropriate for me to make any comment on the matter.
