Question:

169 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the statutory redundancy entitlements of a person with 23 years service with a company; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1946/01]

Provided the person in question is insurable for all benefits under the Social Welfare Acts or they were in such employment at any time in the four years prior to redundancy, with the exception of regular part-time employees where this requirement is not applicable, and provided they are under 66 years at the date of termination of employment they should be eligible for a statutory redundancy lump sum payment calculated as follows: a half week's pay for each year of service continuous and reckonable between the ages of 16 and 41 years; a week's pay for each year of service continuous and reckonable over the age of 41 years; in addition, the equivalent of one week's normal pay subject to the statutory ceiling, which is £300.
