Question:

75 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the total moneys allo cated from the proceeds of the national lottery and/or other sources in support of sporting and recreational activities, amenities or facilities in the year ending 31 December 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The total funding allocated by my Department under the national lottery-funded sports capital programme for the year ending 31 December 2000 was £35.832 million. This was by far the largest annual allocation ever made under the programme and is in line with the Government's commitment to the development of sport and increased participation in sport as outlined in the Action Programme for the Millennium.

The total funding allocated by this Department to the Irish Sports Council for the year ending 31/12/2000 was £10,408000.

The total funding allocated under the Exchequer funded local authority swimming pool programme for the year ending 31 December 2000 was £6.85 million.
