Vol. 530 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

72 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will increase the compensation paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo for dairy cows which have failed the TB test. [3427/01]

Reactor grants of £5,625 have been paid to the person concerned to date. A further amount of £225 will issue shortly to him which when paid will represent the total compensation entitlement due.

John Perry

Question:

73 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will rescind the decision made on the suckler cow quota of a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim in view of the fact that this person exhausted all options to procure cow quota (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3509/01]

Under EU regulations a herdowner leasing or buying quota must do so before he lodges his application for suckler cow premium. The person named applied for premium under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme on 31 May 2000 but did not hold a suckler cow quota. He did not lease or buy quota for 2000 and cannot do so at this stage. If he wishes to acquire quota for 2001 he should do so before he applies for suckler cow premium in 2001.
