John McGuinness

Question:

133 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance the progress in relation to the Nore flood relief scheme; if a date has been set to commence work on the scheme; if so, the date in question; and if the residents of Duke Meadows and Riverside Drive in Kilkenny will be given the opportunity to meet officials to discuss the part of the scheme which affects their local community. The detailed design and preparation of contract documents for the flood relief scheme for Kilkenny are now nearing completion and it is intended to invite tenders for the civil engineering works by the end of February with a closing date in mid-April with a view to placing a contract in mid-May and commencing work on site in a further month. All landowners suffering an interference to their properties will be contacted prior to commencement of works on those properties and contacts to discuss the scheme details in their areas will be made ahead of works taking place in their respective areas with the residents of both Duke Meadows and Riverside Drive, Kilkenny.

Question:

134 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Finance the steps which have been taken to remove the threat of flooding from Lucan; the further measures planned in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3724/01]

The Office of Public Works have sought information from South Dublin County Council regarding flooding incidences at Lucan and are awaiting a response to their correspondence. On receipt of the information requested it will be possible for Office of Public Works to determine what assistance might be offered to the local authority in this matter.
