Róisín Shortall

Question:

291 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the absence of a dedicated school bus run for pupils from Maynooth, Celbridge and Leixlip who attend Coláiste Cois Life, Lucan, County Dublin and the safety hazards for such students who must instead use the public bus; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that a nearby school (details supplied) has a dedicated bus run whose route takes in the above areas as well as Coláiste Cois Life and whose numbers have reduced in recent years; if he will undertake to have officials from his Department liase with both schools in question to establish if the bus could be shared between the schools; if he will sanction a school bus for Coláiste Cois Life; the action he proposes to take to address this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Austin Currie

Question:

300 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science the action he will take in relation to the transport problem (details supplied) of persons from north Kildare attending Coláiste Cois Life, Lucan, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3969/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 291 and 300 together.

I have already asked the school transport section of my Department to re-examine transport arrangements for pupils from the north Kildare area to Coláiste Cois Life, Lucan, as a matter of urgency. I understand that this review is nearing completion. The Deputies will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible.
