Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

110 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development his views on whether an application for area aid was mislaid by or within his Department in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if headage payment for the year 2000 can now be made. [3653/01]

I am satisfied that an area aid application in respect of the person named was not mislaid by or within my Department. As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 353 of 30 January 2001, no area aid application was received from the person named for 2000 and consequently no payment in respect of his application under the 2000 cattle headage scheme can be made.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

111 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason suckler cow and headage grant payments have not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and the reason for the delay in payment. [3654/01]

The person named applied for premium on 27 animals under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme and for 24 beef cows and three heifers under the 2000 cattle headage scheme on 31 May 2000. The person named had an outbreak of BSE in his herd in 2000 which obliged him to operate under a new herd number. His area aid application was lodged under his old herd No. G248-062 9 on 27 April 2000. However, his suckler cow and cattle headage claims were lodged under herd No. G248-129 9 and this gave rise to difficulties regarding the processing of the claims. An amount of £464.27 was paid to the person named under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme on 30 November 2000. Arrangements are now in place to issue the balance of his entitlement under this scheme as well as his full entitlement under the 2000 cattle headage scheme. Payment to the person named will issue within the next two weeks.
