Vol. 530 No. 4

Written Answers. - Arts Funding.

Dan Neville

Question:

157 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the situation regarding the application for a group under ACCESS 2001-2004 for a community (details supplied) in County Limerick; her views on whether this project deserves the support of her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4092/01]

An application has been made for funding by the group referred to by the Deputy under the ACCESS – arts and culture capital enhancement support scheme. The Deputy will be aware that I have secured a total of £36 million of Exchequer funding for ACCESS for the period 2001-04. An initial assessment of all applications has been completed and it has been determined that the project in question has met the broad criteria for eligibility. Accordingly, it will now undergo a full evaluation along with other eligible applications and on the basis of this recommendations on the projects to be supported will be submitted to me for decision.
