134 Mr. O'Flynn asked the Minister for Public Enterprise her views on whether a European aviation authority should be established to enforce aviation safety standards uniformly across Europe; and if she will raise this matter at the EU Council of Ministers. [4518/01]

The EU Transport Council has decided to establish a European aviation safety authority and I fully support this initiative. Discussions on the structure and remit of the agency are continuing.
