120 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will grant approval to Waterford County Council for funding for the provision of improvement works to their fire stations at Ardmore, Lismore, Portlaw, Kilmacthomas and Tallow in view of the outdated condition of these stations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Waterford County Council recently submitted to my Department a five year capital development programme, 2001-05, for its fire service relating to upgrading or replacing stations, appliances and equipment. The council's proposals will be examined having regard to the level of funding available to the fire services capital programme nationally and the competing demands for these funds.
