Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Monuments Act.

Michael Bell

Question:

33 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress made to date in the review of the National Monuments Act, 1930 to 1944; when it is expected that the consolidated national monuments Bill will be produced; when she will publish the issues document; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4974/01]

I hope to submit the draft heads of the Bill for the proposed legislation, the drafting of which is well advanced in my Department, for Government approval by June of this year. In the circumstances, I have decided not to proceed with the publication of an issues document but instead to proceed with the introduction and implementation of the new legislation as soon as possible.
