Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Denis Naughten

Question:

282 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department has carried out a survey of the total reserve supply of aggregates here where the sites in question have planning permission; if he has satisfied himself that there are sufficient aggregates to meet the demands in the national development plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5542/01]

My Department has not carried out a survey along the lines referred to by the Deputy.

However, two independent sources, the Building Materials Federation, BMF, and the Irish Concrete Federation, ICF, have confirmed that there are sufficient resources of aggregates available to implement the National Development Plan, 2000-2006.
