Vol. 531 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Staff.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

82 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress being made by the Pensions Commission in tackling the inadequate pension levels of non-officer grade hospital staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5976/01]

The Final Report of the Commission on Public Service Pensions was published by the Minister for Finance on 31 January 2001. The recommendations of the report, including those relating to the pension entitlements of non-officer grades within the public service, including non-officer hospital staff, are under consideration by the Government. Primary responsibility for bringing the matter to Government and for progressing the implementation of any Government decisions on the recommendations is a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Finance.
