Vol. 531 No. 5

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Willie Penrose

Question:

113 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a visitor visa for three months was not granted to a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6350/01]

As I explained in my previous reply to Parliamentary Question No. 362 on 12 December 2000 on this matter, the visa application in question was refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant would observe the conditions of a visit visa. In particular, it was felt that the applicant had not displayed sufficient evidence of her obligations to return home following her proposed visit.

The applicant can appeal the decision by writing to the visa appeals officer together with further information or documentation in support of her application. An official from my Department will shortly contact the applicant's reference in Ireland to assist and provide advice in this regard.
