John McGuinness

Question:

222 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 155 of 7 December 2000, regarding a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, his Department has received a reply from the health board. [6897/01]

I have made inquiries from the Eastern Regional Health Authority regarding this case and I understand that a reply is due to issue to the Deputy shortly.

Question:

223 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to the replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 31, 144 and 145 of 28 February 2001, he will give an undertaking that the expert review group on radiotherapy services will report by the middle of the year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Question:

224 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 31, 144 and 145 of 28 February 2001, he will give a more exact timing for receipt of this report and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6899/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 223 and 224 together.

The expert review group has indicated that it anticipates that its work will be completed in a number of months. Because of the importance and complexity of the work, it is not possible to give an exact date for completion. I have been assured that the group is working as expeditiously as possible and that there is no undue delay in the work of the group. I look forward to receiving the report, which I will consider in due course.
