Question:

314 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans he has to reform the law to enable a wife, having divorced her husband, to marry her husband's brother; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6925/01]

A family law Bill forms part of the Government's legislation programme as announced by the Chief Whip on 25 January 2001. The subject matter of the Deputy's question will be considered in the context of the preparation in my Department of the heads of proposals in relation to that Bill.
