Question:367 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if there is an educational psychologist for schools in the Westport area of County Mayo; and, if so, if he will give details in this regard. [6590/01]
Written Answers. - Psychological Service.
All post-primary schools in County Mayo have access to the psychological service provided by the National Educational Psychological Service, NEPS. Approximately 30 primary schools in the Ballina and Castlebar areas have also had access to the service since 1998. Two additional psychologists have recently joined the NEPS team serving schools in County Mayo. The service will be extended to more primary schools within the next few weeks and will continue to expand until all schools in the county have access to it. The NEPS service will be available to all primary schools in the Westport area as soon as another psychologist is appointed to the team.
