Vol. 532 No. 4
336 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children the health boards which communicate with their members via e-mail or website; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7607/01]
The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department. I have referred the matter to the chief executive officer of each health board and I have asked them to reply directly to the Deputy.
The method by which health boards communicate with their members is primarily a matter for the individual health boards themselves. However, I am currently developing a national health strategy, which I intend to launch in mid-year. This strategy will, amongst other things, be considering opportunities for streamlining the operation of the health services. Specifically, this strategy has a working group on "E-health", which is dedicated to looking at the opportunities afforded by modern information and communications technologies (ICT).
