Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Offshore Islands.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

495 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans she has for the development of the Great Blasket Island, including the provision of a pier and other works; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7965/01]

As the Deputy will be aware, a Supreme Court decision in July 1999 declared the An Blascaod Mór National Historic Park Act, 1989, to be invalid. The policy in relation to the conservation and development of the Great Blasket Island, taking into account a whole range of issues including the provision of improved landing facilities, must now be reviewed in consultation with the interests concerned.
