Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Board Property.

Michael Ring

Question:

215 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the position with regard to the convent property in Louisburgh, County Mayo; the plans the health board has in this regard; and when it expects to commence work on the building. [8966/01]

The provision of health services in Louisburgh, County Mayo, is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. The board has informed me that purchase of the convent property in Louisburgh is dependent upon getting planning permission from Mayo County Council for change of use. The planning application was lodged on 26 February last.

If the planning application is successful, the board intends that a number of health centre activities will be transferred to this location and, in addition, a new day care facility will be provided. Some internal renovations will be necessary and these will be identified as soon as ownership and planning matters are finalised.
