Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Planning Regulations.

Denis Naughten

Question:

224 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current regulation governing the use of explosives for quarries; if it is a requirement under the relevant regulation that such activity has the approval of the planning authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8741/01]

In granting planning permission for a quarry, a planning authority may attach conditions placing restrictions on the activities which may take place in the quarry in the interests of proper planning and development. These could include conditions relating to blasting at the quarrying.
