Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Explosives Licences.

Denis Naughten

Question:

272 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will indicate under the current regulation governing the use of explosives, the Government body which issues a licence to use the explosives; the bodies to which such a licence is issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8742/01]

The Explosives Act, 1875, provides for the issue of licences by me for the importation, manufacture and storage of explosives, mainly for commercial use. In addition, the use of explosives may also, in accordance with the circumstances, involve regulatory control outside the remit of my Department.
