Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bullying in the Workplace.

Denis Naughten

Question:

65 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has received the report of the task force on bullying due in March 2000; when she expects to publish the recommendations contained in the report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8551/01]

The task force on the prevention of workplace bullying was set up to examine workplace bullying in detail and to focus on identifying the size of the problem and the employment sectors most at risk as well as to develop proposals for practical programmes and strategies, both to prevent workplace bullying, and to provide a more appropriate co-ordinated response from the relevant State agencies. While it was originally envisaged that the task force would report in March of last year, the chairman of the task force requested an extension of time to facilitate a proper fulfilment of its remit, in particular the first remit which is to identify the size of the problem in Ireland and the sectors most at risk. The report of the task force is now being finalised, and will shortly be considered by the board of the Health and Safety Authority, under whose auspices the task force has been operating. I look forward to receiving the report in the very near future.
