Question:

71 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Taoiseach if he will give the figures for the last census of population in Dublin; if it is available for the county, each local authority area and Dublin Corporation City Boundary area; and if data for the county and Dublin Corporation City Boundary area can be given in total numbers, age category and gender breakdown; and if he will make a statement on the matter quoting the date for the coming census. The statistical information requested by the Deputy is contained in the following table.

The 2001 census was scheduled to take place on 29 April 2001. However, acting on the advice of the expert group on foot and mouth disease, it has been decided to postpone it for a year, to 28 April 2002.
