An application has been received from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for approval to use internal capital receipts to fund the provision of central heating in its rented dwellings. The application is being examined in my Department in the context of the determination of the capital allocations for the housing construction and remedial works scheme programmes in 2001 and, in particular, the internal capital receipt requirements of the programmes. A decision in the matter will issue as soon as possible.
