Question:

316 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of planning applications submitted in each local authority for each month since 1 July 2000; and the total number of these applications approved. [9837/01]

317 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total number of planning applications submitted and approved for each local authority in each of the past five years. [9839/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 316 and 317 together.

Detailed statistics on planning applications and decisions in respect of each planning authority are published in my Department's annual planning statistics publication. The latest publication is in respect of 1999. In addition, statistics are also published on a quarterly basis in my Department's planning statistics quarterly. The most recent publication is in respect of the quarter July to September 2000. Copies of both the annual planning statistics and the planning statistics quarterly are available in the Library.
