Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

366 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí allocated to Tallaght Garda station for each of the years 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000; the number assigned as community gardaí for each of the years in question; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9491/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, that the manpower strength – all ranks – and number of gardaí assigned to community policing at Tallaght Garda station as at 31 December for each of the years 1997 to 2000, inclusive, were as follows:

Year

Strength

Community Policing

1997

133

24

1998

139

24

1999

142

23

2000

159

23

The above figures represent an increase of 20% in the manpower strength at Tallaght Garda station between 31 December 1997 and 31 December 2000.
