Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Denis Naughten

Question:

76 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance the number of staff employed in the office of the Information Commissioner; the total complement of staff allocated to this office; and his plans to recruit additional staff to this office. [4793/01]

The current approved staffing compliment for the office of the Information Commissioner is 19 across all grades. As of 20 February 2001 there were 17.5 staff working in the office, including 1.5 on temporary assignment from the Office of the Ombudsman. In February 2000 the Minister for Finance sanctioned the appointment of a number of additional investigators to the commissioner's office. The delays inherent in the recruitment process meant that these additional staff did not take up duty until late in 2000.
