Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mobility Allowance.

Michael Ring

Question:

161 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if an application for a mobility allowance by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo can be appealed again. [10536/01]

As I outlined in my response to the Deputy's original question – Parliamentary Question No. 8508/01 refers – the assessment of entitlement to the mobility allowance in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. I understand that the Western Health Board wrote to him directly on 28 March 2001 explaining that this person did not qualify for mobility allowance. Furthermore, the Western Health Board explained that should this person's circumstances change, he could re-apply at that stage.
