Question:317 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science the role his Department can play to ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3, who cannot read or write and who has not attended school since December 2000, receives an appropriate education including remedial teaching, which is free from harassment by pupils; his views on whether active intervention by the State is essential immediately in a case such as this; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
