Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

315 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if a design team has been appointed to deal with the future accommodation requirements for Listellick national school; the position in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10649/01]

At present my Department is examining the most efficient and cost effective way of providing improved accommodation at the school. In view of the large number of schools building projects currently being processed by my Department, it is not possible to give any indication as to the timetable for the provision of the facilities. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

Question:

316 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science when a decision will be taken in respect of an application from St. Maelruan's national school, Old Bawn, Tallaght, Dublin 24, to have a perimeter fence erected around this school in an effort to prevent anti-social activity; when his Department first received this application on behalf of the school; the total potential funding that the Department can grant in respect of this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10671/01]

It is a matter for the school's consultant architect to advance this project to tender stage. My Department will consider the matter further as soon as the relevant documentation has been received. The project will be grant aided at a rate of 90% of the contract amount. A local contribution of 10%, subject to a maximum of £25,000, will be required.
