Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

141 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the plans he has to bring his proposals regarding decentralisation of Departments and State agencies to Government before the Easter recess; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10729/01]

I am currently finalising proposals in relation to a new programme of decentralisation for submission to the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Decentralisation and the Government. In view of the range of issues which need to be covered in developing proposals for consideration by the Cabinet sub-committee and thereafter the Government, and notwithstanding my intention to progress the matter expeditiously, I will not be in a position to bring formal proposals before the Government in advance of the Easter recess.
