118 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Finance the measures he will put in place immediately to ensure the availability of official Irish language texts of Acts of the Oireachtas, following the Supreme Court judgment of 4 April 2001 on this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In May 2000 my Department sanctioned the provision of additional staffing and financial resources to the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas in order to clear arrears in the translation into Irish of Acts of the Oireachtas. Following a recent competition for the recruitment of the additional staff they are currently being appointed and will, immediately on their appointment, begin work on clearing the arrears. The sanction for the additional staff involves the creation of both permanent and temporary posts.
