101 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will furnish details of the instrument by which the Land Commission acquired title to the Bessborough Estate and in particular lands at Ballinakill, County Carlow; if details of the pre-registration of title of the Bessborough estate are available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh):

The Bessborough Estate was acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Acts. The final list was furnished to solicitors acting on behalf of the person named. The examiner of title in my Department, who has statutory function in this regard, has received a recent communication from the solicitors and will be pursuing the matter.
