Vol. 534 No. 5

Written Answers - Allegations Concerning Garda Síochána.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

57 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in the investigation into allegations of bribery involving members of the Gardaí in Dublin, especially regarding drink driving offences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11002/01]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 22 of 1 March 2001.

I have since been informed by the Garda authorities that an investigation file into the allegations referred to by the Deputy involving one member of the Garda Síochána is expected to be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions before the end of April 2001.

The Deputy will appreciate that as the matter is under investigation it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.
