Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Road Traffic Accidents.

Michael Ring

Question:

174 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the steps which have been taken with Bus Éireann to ensure that the necessary precautions are being taken to prevent any further accidents, similar to the one in Frenchpark, County Roscommon, in 2000; if her Department has contacted Bus Éireann to ensure that procedures are in place to check their vehicles on a daily basis; the procedures in place now which contrast this with the procedures in place before this accident; and if she has satisfied herself with the procedures in place. [11872/01]

I have no function in relation to this matter. The health and safety of passengers on Bus Éireann services is a day-to-day responsibility of the company, in accordance with its responsibilities under road traffic and other legislation.
