Question:

183 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Defence the total amount of expenditure on chicken portions and chickens for each of the Army barracks for the year 2000; the total value of chicken portions and chickens purchased and produced in the South of Ireland; the total value of purchases of chicken portions and chickens purchased from (i) the United Kingdom including the North of Ireland, (ii) other European countries and (iii) non-European countries; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The position is that contracts to the value of £260,000 approximately were placed in 2000 for the supply of chicken and chicken products to military barracks nationwide. These contracts were placed with the following companies:

The only non-Irish produce is supplied by Corrib Food Products which imports its supplies from France.
