Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Community Staffing.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

320 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funding for a provisional community domiciliary post in Ballincollig, County Cork. [11775/01]

One of the proposals put forward for consideration for funding by the regional planning and consultative committees in 2001 was from the Brothers of Charity Services to establish a post of domiciliary nurse for its Mahon and Ballincollig clinic services. It was envisaged that the post would provide a quality home-based service to babies and children under three years and their parents and be divided between the Mahon and Ballincollig child development centres.

When the list of priority developments which had been identified by the committees for funding was reviewed, it did not prove possible to provide funding in 2001 for the above mentioned proposal. I understand from the Southern Health Board, however, that the Brothers of Charity Services is currently in the process of reviewing other measures to address this need and that the situation will be kept under review.
