Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Regional Funding.

Ulick Burke

Question:

464 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the total financial contribution from her Department towards the Border midlands west region for each year since this designation; the additional funding over and above normal funding which was provided for the region; the expenditure for 2001; the areas of this additional expenditure; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11639/01]

My Department is not involved in providing funding for the Border midlands west region in accordance with the arrangements for which the region is designated. The Deputy may wish to note that my Department operates grant schemes in respect of the millennium celebrations, the sailors' and soldiers' trust and commemoration initiatives. Some of the funding from these schemes would go to projects in the region although they are not classified on a regional basis. Information on these schemes can be provided to the Deputy if he wishes.
